MADELEINE DE LEO

Madeleine has a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia, and a Master of Legal Practice from the Australian National University. She was admitted to practice in June 2015, and since that time she has practiced in Family Law. Madeleine qualified as an accredited Mediator in 2021.
She has a wide range of experience, from working in private practice, accepting grants of Legal Aid, volunteering for community legal centres, and working for a Judge at the Family Court of Western Australia.
Madeleine practices in all areas of Family Law, including child contact arrangements, relocation cases, financial settlement, spousal and de facto partner maintenance, financial agreements, and child support. Madeleine has particular experience in complex parenting matters, including matters involving risk and proposed relocation of children. Previously, Madeleine has also practiced in restraining order and child protection and care matters.
She is dedicated to helping clients explore options for negotiated settlements, and helping her clients find a way to resolve their disputes in a practical, respective, costs-sensitive and future-focussed way. She cares about providing meaningful and sustainable outcomes for her clients.
Madeleine is adaptable and confident as an advocate, and in terms of helping clients negotiate, representing clients at mediations, as well as representing clients at Court hearings. In cases that are unable to be resolved by consent, Madeleine is experienced in representing clients at all stages of Family Court proceedings including at trial.
Outside of the law, Madeleine enjoys spending time with her friends and family, travelling, reading and cooking.
Madeleine is a member of the Family Law Practitioner’s Association of Western Australia, Law Society of Western Australia and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
